Hello!

I'm Marín Björt, an illustrator based in Reykjavík, Iceland. I work both digitally and in traditional mediums.

Illustrating is a passion of mine and I enjoy building up an image by using textures and tones. I draw a lot of inspiration from art history; from the old masters and mistresses to contemporary and living artists (I love discovering new artists on instagram). 

In my sketching I take pleasure from using fountain pens, colored pencils and watercolors as well as whatever is by hand. I’m drawn to using large photocopy machines; I like how the texture of the drawings gets rougher and more tattered after running them through the machines a couple of times. 

I like to draw birds, people and the environment, be it in black and white or in colors. I love scribbling and scrawling, spending time in nature, reading and learning about new things.
